Antique
American Carvings Slideshow
Carving
has been an important medium of expression and ornamentation in America.
While
drawing upon German, Irish, Italian and French styles, American carvers have often
synthesized personally and regionally distinctive styles and unique subjects such
as bird decoys.
On Thursday, July 29th at
1:00pm a slideshow will be presented on Antique American Carvings.
The presentation will overview highlights of American carvings from the
1650 to 1900.
The program will run about one hour and afterwards there will
be refreshments, coffee, and informal discussions.
The speaker will be
antiques writer Bob Jackman.
OPTIONAL: If
you have an antique carving, bring it to the show,
and Bob will be happy to
offer comments.
